White Collar: USA has another hit on its hands

You absolutely have to check out White Collar on USA. I had to keep reminding myself that this was USA and not some other channel! The pilot episode opens with a jailbreak — con artist Neal Caffrey (played by Matt Bomer from Chuck and Traveler) escapes from jail to search for his ex-girlfriend but is tracked down by FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) the man who originally put him in jail. Suave, sophisticated, and highly intelligent, Neal manages to score himself a release from jail (into Peter’s custody) by providing a major tip on one of Peter’s other cases. The two team up to finish solving the case and to catch the bad guy. The rest of the cast includes Tiffani Thiessen (best known for Saved by the Bell and 90210) as Peter’s wife, Marsha Thomason (from Las Vegas–not sure if she will be in subsequent episodes? she’s not listed on USA’s website) as Peter’s colleague, and Willie Garson (from Sex and the City) as Neal’s go-to-guy.

The pilot episode was brilliant–great premise, captivating storyline, and amazing actors.  I really hope the rest of this series lives up to the promise of this episode.

Final Verdict: Another one of this season’s best! Fans of spy, mystery, or heist shows will love White Collar.
